He has spent his professional career protecting private wealth in both transactional and litigation settings. Mr. Mazlish earned an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 1995 and has provided tax advice to business clients throughout his career.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mazlish spent over five years with a Manhattan firm primarily representing nonprofit organizations in both tax and litigation matters. He has litigated a variety of complex matters before state and federal courts as well as administrative agencies throughout the United States. Mr. Mazlish's achievements include a successful appeal in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit that led to the overturning of a Pinellas County, Florida ordinance regulating nonprofits. He has published several articles in nonprofit trade journals and lectured on the subjects of constitutional law and the proper scope of governmental regulatory authority of nonprofits.
In addition, Mr. Mazlish has also worked for several New Jersey firms where he has advised clients on cutting edge trademark and copyright issues, particularly with respect to the Internet. In selecting a trademark, Mr. Mazlish counsels business owners on the inherent tension between picking a name related to the business with the desire to obtain strong trademark protection. Mr. Mazlish prepares trademark and copyright registrations, and also advises clients on infringement matters. He has also represented creditors in collection and bankruptcy matters. |
